DIY Kitchen Window Herb Garden

Hi again!

Today I want to share a quick, fun DIY project with you guys. This DIY herb garden costs less than $12 and is super easy to create!

Materials

  • seed packets or baby herbs
  • containers
  • potting soil

I chose to grow Cilantro, Mint, Lavender and Basil. You can find seed packets dirt cheap (no pun intended) at the Dollar Tree, Walmart or any home improvement store. If you choose, you can get a head start by buying baby herb plants. I went with seed packets and planted in mason jars, but I have also seen people plant in small flower pots, metal canisters, tea tins, etc. The sky is the limit:) I ended up spray painting my jars white for a clean and simple look. I love how they turned out!

And that's it! Looking back, I think I would have spent the extra few bucks to buy a few small herb plants rather than trying to grow my plants from seeds. My kitchen window gets very little direct sunlight which has made growing herbs "from scratch" a little more challenging. Still, I have a few sprouts growing so I am excited to see how they turn out!

This spring project is too fun and easy not to try so go grab yourself some seeds and get to it :)

Happy planting!
